About the Role: Production Manager - Initial Freelance Role
53Six are looking for an experienced Production Manager who can join us on a freelance basis to help support a number of upcoming productions.
The Production Manager’s primary responsibility is working with the production team, overseeing a number of on-going productions, whilst supplying logistical and administrative support.
The Production Manager is required to support the department in all areas of logistics and administration such as assisting in setting up shoots, research, booking and administering crew and resources, supporting post production in the delivery of content, as well as assisting the financial management of productions. This would include working in tandem with the Head of Production and production team - including the Production Coordinator, Producers and Assistant Producer.
This will initially be a 2 month contract, with potential for a longer term contract.
Areas of responsibility:
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
Process management:
Managing current (and where relevant) introducing new production management systems in all areas of production - pre-production, shoots and post production
Creating and maintaining an overall production schedule for the company and scheduling the team and shoots across the slate
Managing the production management team and leading the Production Coordinator and Production Assistants on all projects while liaising with the Producers throughout
Financial:
Setting up and running production budget meetings
Reviewing and managing invoices from suppliers
Working with producer and executive producer to create budgets for productions - ensuring consistency of pricing
Identifying, pricing and booking with any cast and / or talent for shoots, including obtaining paperwork, waivers and contracts
Reconcile budgets and close off productions
Process T&E and expense reconciliation where required
Production & Post-Production:
Liaise with crew to manage bookings, day rates
Coordinate shoot prep with producers
Attend and production manage shoot days
Manage the post-production work-flow, including working with different internal and external staff/suppliers
Talent:
In consultation with production team, liaise with crew & talent to manage bookings
Administrative:
Attend production meetings with key clients (e.g. bet365, eir, GAA) and freelance crew
Assist production in coordinating all logistical aspects of shoots, including preparation and issuing call sheets, find and organise locations, parking, check lighting and wet weather options etc.
Assist production team with administrative needs as required
Assist with schedules, department tracking documents and calendars
Ensure legal paperwork and release forms are signed and filed accordingly for each shoot
Assist Production team with agendas, minutes and meeting planning;
Liaise with local councils to secure permits.
Ensure all the contacts and details have been collated and the Production team is informed of all shoots and bookings;
Create and update Call Sheets in conjunction with Producers
Reporting:
Track content output for the department for internal & external reporting purposes;
OTHER GENERAL SUPPORT
General production support including couriers, props buying, ordering stock etc;
Assist Producers where required in the coordination of shoots;
Adhere to budgets, post production protocols, post production schedules and delivery dates;
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum/ demonstrated 5 years’ experience within a media or content organisation.
3rd level qualification in TV, film, media production or related area desired
Display a strong interest in commercial production
Skills / Qualities
Superb organisational skills;
Strong financial acumen and preferably experience working on production budgeting software
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Firm grasp of the production process from inception to delivery;
Thrive in a fast-paced, pressured, dynamic environment
Ability to work both autonomously and as a team player in a small team environment when required;
Ability to work within budgetary and deadline constraints;
Knowledge of broadcast camera & editing equipment
Sense of humour and a positive team player a must.
An interest in film, advertising and social media marketing.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
Some knowledge of Powerpoint, Keynote, Photoshop and Indesign an advantage.
